Howey Mansion Ceremony Setup

The Howey Mansion is an historic venue located Northwest of Orlando in the aptly named town of Howey-in-the-Hills. It’s the standout point of interest in this quaint area. I recently had an in-depth conversation with Tasha Bordenga, Special Events Manager. She described the fascinating history about the prized venue. There’s so much history and prestige that makes it an ideal place for a wedding. You won’t want to miss this interview!

WHAT MAKES THE HOWEY MANSION SUCH A HIGHLY SOUGHT-AFTER VENUE?

The Howey Mansion is ideal for couples wanting an Historical indoor and outdoor event without the limitations of a historical venue! We allow couples to really utilize the entire space and offer custom options. One such option is renting the entire home with sleeping accommodations for the weekend! It is a one-of-a-kind experience to host your wedding in the almost 100 year old Mediterranean Revival style home!”

WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?

“Our ideal client is a couple who is looking for a unique venue. One that offers a Historical aspect, as well as a Romantic and Fun setting like the Mansion does! We love couples with “out there” ideas and LOVE helping those visions come to life!”

DESCRIBE ONE OF YOUR MOST MEMORABLE WEDDINGS AND WHAT YOU LOVED ABOUT IT.

“We adore and have had so many amazing weddings over our 2 years in business. One of our absolute favorites (and largest) was our 400 person wedding we hosted in November 2019! The wedding was a formal black tie event and featured a 9,000 square foot tent on our front lawn! Crystal chandeliers adorning the clear top tent offered a stunning view of the Mansion. It was truly an awe-inspiring wedding! The Mansion was used for cocktail hour and also offered a quiet seating area for dessert. Cigars and after dinner drinks were served while everyone else danced the night away under the stars! It was truly a magical experience for both the guests and our staff!”

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE HOWEY MANSION TO SOMEONE WHO IS UNFAMILIAR WITH IT?

The Howey Mansion is a historical venue that offers the perfect setting for an indoor and outdoor event to remember! Italian and Spanish designs influence the look of the mansion. The aesthetic creates a soft but neutral pallet for fun romantic affairs! The venue was built in the 1920’s and comes complete with a speakeasy to surprise your guests. This is on top of the already unique vibe the venue has to offer. The Mansion can accommodate up to 500 guests, depending on what the couple is looking for. No matter what, the Mansion certainly has something to offer every couple and their unique vision for their special day.”

NAME AN INTERESTING FACT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT THE HOWEY MANSION

The Howey Mansion was built in the swing of the Prohibition. Thus, Mr. Howey (original owner and builder) had a secret basement built into the mansion for his bootleg liquor! We have converted the space to resemble a speakeasy, and it is an amazing add-on service for our clients and their guests!”

WHAT SHOULD COUPLES KNOW BEFORE BOOKING?

“Before booking the Mansion, couples should consider a rain plan if their guest count exceeds our indoor capacity. Tents are a popular option. We also require an outside day of coordinator to assist on the day of the wedding as well.”

WHAT’S NEW OR ON THE HORIZON FOR THE HOWEY MANSION?

“Our newest project has been working on the lush gardens the Howey’s once had on the property. Be sure to keep an eye out for the return of a the glorious grounds! We may or may not have already put in the rose garden!”
