I first met Chanel when I filmed her sister Christina’s wedding in 2016. Their family loved Christina’s film so much that they asked me to film Chanel and Timmy’s! The bridal suite, cocktail hour, and reception were all held at Country Club of Orlando, with the ceremony at Knowles Memorial Chapel.
This was one of my favorite weddings I’ve filmed recently. It was a jam packed day with extended families and lots of friends. There were so many surprises and off the wall moments. One such moment was the fake first look betweeen Timmy and Chanel’s brother, Joey. The hijinks aboard the party bus was another!
HOW THEY MET
Chanel and Timmy met in ninth grade in high school in their AP Geography class with Mr. Parker. The two started dating the following year and have dated ever since. They went to UCF together, as well.
THE PROPOSAL
Timmy proposed on their tenth dating anniversary in his parents’ backyard. He set up a handmade wooden frame with photos from their ten years together, and walked Chanel out to the set up in his parents’ backyard overlooking the lake. He popped the question, and then both sets of parents, along with Chanel’s Aunt Joanie, came running out of the house with champagne. His youngest sister also came out of the bushes, where she was secretly taking photos. They then went to dinner with the whole family to celebrate.
THE BIG DAY
Chanel and Timmy envisioned their wedding to be large and a party. They both come from big families. Chanel’s family is Italian and Timmy’s is Greek. They knew it wouldn’t be a small guest count!
THE STYLE
Country Club of Orlando helped execute the couple’s vision to a T.
Chanel “loooooves” the color pink, so she wanted that in the color palette. They decided on pink and navy with pops of gold/sparkle. Chanel also loves monograms, so she and Timmy had them sprinkled throughout. There wasn’t a set style, just a classic affair.
The flowers were different shades of pink with orchids. Chanel “loooooves” orchids. They were created by Fairbanks Florist with some assistance from The Tiny Orchid Co.
The gown was from The Collection and was designed by Martiana Liana. Chanel knew she didn’t want anything “poufy”, but wanted sparkle and lace.
The favors were easy. Chanel and Timmy love sugar cookies with royals icing. With the monograms they were perfect. The cookies were baked and decorated by Amy Cuff.
The cake was done by Publix bakery. It wasn’t a major priority as they wanted the ice cream bar. They decided, however, that they needed a traditional cake for the cutting and feeding ceremony.
The hair and makeup was complete by LeJeune Artistry. They did a fabulous job and it stayed all night through dinner and dancing!
UNIQUE/DIY ELEMENTS
The setup for the reception at Country Club of Orlando was exquisite. Chanel and Timmy had their wedding monogram on the head table napkins, as well as one for the cake table. They had special forks for the cake tasting, and a hot pink cake knife and server.
Chanel had messages sewn into the back of Timmy’s and her father’s ties.
They used Timmy’s parents’ toasting glasses and Chanel’s parents’ unity candle. These were a part of their “old and borrowed”.
FAVORITE MOMENTS
The couple’s favorite moment was the first dance. They had worked on it for a few weeks prior to the big day and knew it would surprise everyone. Chanel is a big dancer and music fan, but Timmy does not like attention or dancing. It was such a special moment that they were able to pull off and now have forever in video.
Chanel’s favorite moment was when Timmy got in the chair for the chair dance. He had always said he’d never do the chair dance, but sure enough he was lifted up in the chair and did it!
IN HER OWN WORDS
“It was a perfect day starting with a magical rehearsal dinner and ending with a sweet morning after brunch. We felt so much love and support from our family and friends. It was a wonderful start to a life long happy marriage. We felt like everything went smoothly and perfectly on the wedding day; just as we had hoped and planned for.”
ADVICE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE
“Once the days starts….enjoy every moment. It really does go as fast as everyone says it will. Don’t worry about what could go wrong just smile and enjoy the day and your new husband.”
TAKEAWAY
“We were really happy that we had the day photographed and filmed. It wasn’t a question if we were going to. If that is something a bride and groom are unsure about, we would 100% say it’s a must. It is so amazing to have those to look back on. It is great to have for the memories and to relive that day over and over. “
“We had a great photographer and videographer. Make sure to pick those whom you click with and enjoy….you will spend a long time with them : )”
