Preferred Vendors

The Howey Mansion has a reputation that precedes itself. If you haven’t yet, be sure to read my Q&A with The Howey Mansion. Nestled into a prime section of real estate in Howey-in-the-Hills, the mansion has a classic luxury aesthetic you’d expect at a venue of this stature. The mansion is two stories with Victorian era stylings and a beautiful courtyard. The facade is regal and the grounds are expansive. It was the perfect venue for this majestic shoot.

I arrived mid day at the peak of Florida’s heat and humidity. Fortunately there was a bit of wind, but this was primarily due to the coming storm. The vendors busily prepared the flowers, cake, and tablescape, while the photographer, Lazzat, and I grabbed shots of the venue, dress, and makeup being applied. We made great time getting gorgeous stills and footage of bride and groom preps, the first look on the stairs, and putting on the dress. The makeup artist filled in as the bride’s maid of honor. The aforementioned storm quickly approached as we got shots of the cake cutting.

As we did the grand exit out of The Howey Mansion the clouds started to sprinkle and the wind increased in vigor. We got some really nice shots of the couple posing with and entering the Bentley automobile. Meanwhile the subsequent setups had to be moved indoors due to the inclement weather. It all worked out because the more diffused light from outside gave the indoor shots like the tablescape and live painter a more cinematic feel. I wrapped the shoot with some shots of the back lawn and fountain as the rain drizzled.

I hope you enjoy the film as much as I did making it. The vendors are all super talented and efficient. The experience shines through when working through challenges like unpredictable weather.
